Union County woman charged with murdering husband in 2018

A 76-year-old woman is under arrest three years after police say she murdered her husband in Union County.

MILLMONT, Pa. — Mryle Miller: "It's all false."

Carolyn Blackburne: "Tell us more about that."

Myrle: "No, get out of my face."

That was all 76-year-old Myrle Miller had to say after state police charged her with her previous husband's murder.

Troopers say Miller was living with her then-husband, 77-year-old John Nichols in Millmont, near Mifflinburg.

Troopers say she killed Nichols in 2018 by giving him a lethal dose of her heart medication.

Troy Freed bought Nichols' home after he passed away, and he knew the two beforehand.

"I'm not going to say it comes as a surprise. It's been suspected before. Most of the people who lived around here when it happened kind of suspected something," Freed said.

State police say Miller had been draining Nichols' bank account for years, giving money away to her lovers online.

Court paperwork shows in the hours before she called 911 to tell dispatchers her husband had a heart attack, she wrote, "Alex, I'm in love with you," to another man on Facebook Messenger.

Troopers said Miller began defrauding her husband less than a year after they were married.

"I would've never expected it from her. I just wouldn't have, knowing her and stuff," said Martin Tyson of Millmont.

"She was, I guess, basically giving John's money away. I feel bad for John's family. Whoever she gave the money to and what she was doing with it, it's a crime. I mean, thankfully, she's paying for it," Freed added.

Miller is now in Northumberland County jail without bail.
